Discover the historic city of La Rochelle on the Atlantic coast

La Rochelle

Saint-Martin is the historic capital of the Île de Ré. Originally fortified by Vauban in the late 17th century to protect the country from English attack, it is now a peaceful village of incomparable charm, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2008. Its lively quays lined with restaurants and oyster huts, its historic streets and small shops invite you to stroll.

By bike, discover the island of Ré and its must-sees: the whale lighthouse, the salt marshes, the Châteliers abbey... But also its many water activities for young and old such as surfing, sand yachting, water skiing, paddle, scuba diving or boating.

At 35 minutes by car or a few minutes by speed boat, finish your trip with a visit of La Rochelle, its old port and its three towers, and treat yourself to a gourmet stopover in one of the city's gourmet restaurants.
